Neurofeedback
Direct Training of Brain Function
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently.
Neurofeedback is a treatment approach that is well grounded in clinical use and effectiveness. It was developed in the 1970’s as a research tool and began to see clinical use in the 1980’s. The initial application was limited by the technology of the times; with modern computing power and ability the sessions are more effective and results are usually seen much sooner.
Pills don’t usually teach you how to change your own brain. Neurofeedback does.
Unlike medication, neurofeedback actually retrains the brain. With neurofeedback, you will learn to make long-term improvements in self-control and attention because your brain learns to make healthier patterns. Training the brain with neurofeedback helps to address the root of the problem without medications by helping create a healthier brain.
Neurofeedback allows you to work directly on the problem by training your brain to become calmer, more focused, and less impulsive.
Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain disregulation.

Initial Visit
During the initial visit a quantitative EEG is performed, we apply electrodes to the scalp to listen to brainwave activity. We process the signal by computer, and extract information about certain key brainwave frequencies. It is reviewed by a Neurologist, much like the way X-rays or EKGs are evaluated by a radiologist or cardiologist.
The frequencies we target, and the specific locations on the scalp
where we listen in on the brain, are specific to the conditions we
are trying to address, and specific to the individual.
Training Sessions
Training sessions are painless, easy and generally produces noticeable results after the first several visits although 10-30 sessions may be required for maximal treatment.
Our Program
Neurofeedback therapy is a safe, non-invasive, alternative option for the treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents. In November 2012, the American Academy of Pediatrics
approved biofeedback and neurofeedback as a Level 1 or “best support” treatment option for children suffering from ADHD.
For parents looking for an effective, non-drug treatment of ADHD, neurofeedback is one worth serious consideration.
Crossroads Healing Arts has worked tirelessly to bring the proper training, personnel and equipment to offer this specialized service to the Elkhart area. Our program is a true BCIA guideline Neurofeedback program, ranking as a top tier medical service provider unmatched in this area.
